(John Tenney speaking) "Let me introduce you to Elevator. I jam with these guys whenever I am in Utica. Jim and Ray have been friends of mine for years. They discovered Al Cook and what a find. A very fluent guitarist. If you get a chance to come out and hear them, take it! The song selection is amazing. Mostly from the 60s and 70s, these are not your typical rock standards. Forget the 1-4-5 chord structure. I try to follow them and I have a tough time. I appreciate them letting me play guitar or keyboards when we get together. Elevator is: Jim Barnes - Bass, Vocals Ray Barnes - Drums, Vocals Al Cook - Guitar, Vocals (and occasionally) John Tenney - Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals Barnes Family: Jim, Ray and Sister Brenda partied with Kathleen and I at our parent's reception" ![]() The videos here were recorded with a hand held camera and the sound and video quality is less than perfect. Please be open minded. |

In The Summertime Recorded at The Devereaux Utica, NY January 27, 2004 |
What I like best about this song is the harmonies. It mixes the fluent playing of Jim,
Ray and Al with excellent vocalizations. Too bad it was a snowstorm that night and only
about 20 people made it out to see Elevator. |

Love Me Two Times Recorded at The Devereaux Utica, NY January 27, 2004 |
Jim, Ray and I have been playing this Doors tune since day 1. People used to say I looked
and sounded like Jim Morrison but I guess that was about 40 lbs ago. |

What I Like About You Recorded at The Devereaux Utica, NY January 27, 2004 |
Jim used to sing this Romantics classic but somewhere along the line he handed it off to
me. I blew my voice out halfway through so maybe it wasn't a good idea. |

Cheap Trick covered this years ago and we liked their version. I really have no idea who
originally did it. Jim loves to play guitar on this one so I thank him, because he sacrificed to
stay on the bass for me. |
