The Band Of One is Born
Many thanks to Derek Bernard for teaching me how to use sequencers, midi, wireless and just about everything else. He is such a great friend I not only made him play my reception I asked him to stand up at the wedding. He was the tallest guy there and dwarfed my best man Dave McDaniel.

A lot of these tunes were meant for radio backdrops and never made it. I include them in the collection in the hope that someone will find a use for them.

I couldn't sleep one night. I got up at 2am and finished this version by 4:30 am. It took about 4 shots of Jack Daniels to get my voice to the right consistency and it still wasn't raw enough in my opinion. I doubt I could do that today. There is a story behind the piano intro. I was scrolling fast through the sequence with a piano sound and only getting the first note of each measure. It wasn't exactly what you hear but it suggested the motif to me.

This was supposed to be a backdrop for a radio show that never happened. I recorded it in the version you hear, then lost the drum sequence! I had to go back and do the whole thing over but I was never able to capture the "feel" of this song. It reminds me of "Rawhide" for some reason. I can almost hear the crack of the bullwhip.

Raul Armesto was my supervisor at Martin-Marietta. Bruce Boldon and I worked on LANTIRN. We always used to joke around about Rah-uuull!!!, especially whenever we did the Warren Zevon song. Raul was having a party one day, leaving us for another section, and I threw this song together the night before. It is very esoteric and I don't expect anyone to get the jokes who didn't work on LANTIRN. The funny part was that the whole office started singing it whenever Raul walked by. In fact, Mr. Stiff performed this song at the LANTIRN christmas party that year.
