The Airport Tiki
On March 29, 2024, my student Cremayne (Corrie) Bryant and I took an IFR training flight down to Fort Pierce, and decided to stop for a late afternoon lunch.
PIREP
The cost ended up being nothing for me!
- Aircraft Rental: Corrie paid for 1.5 hrs, which was about $252
- Fuel in KOBE = Wet rate!
- Fuel in KORL = None
- Restaurant bill: Lunch was on Corrie
- ——-
- Total: $282 ish
- ——-
- Total flight time 2.7
Corrie did a great job flying with the foggles on all the way to FPR so he deserved a nice meal.
The restaurant is very simple but the food quality is excellent. I had a grilled chicken sandwich for example, it was cooked properly with all the trimmings on the side so I could add what I wanted. I like it that way. Corrie got a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries so he was being (somewhat) healthy.
- First, the food is very affordable
- Ft Pierce Tower is very friendly, in spite of the high amount of training traffic they have
- It is not a difficult flight from KORL
Flying Home
