KDED – Deland: The Perfect Spot

The Perfect Spot. Fly In Restaurant in Deland, FL

Located conveniently within the Sky Dive Deland complex, this is fairly easy to reach. The aircraft parking is somewhat distant, but you get to walk through the Sky Dive Deland campus, which is very interesting by itself.

The Flight

Although it should be a short flight, it’s kind of tricky to get there from KORL, as Sanford class C is directly between the airports. We chose to take the trusty C-210D N3784Y around the east side.

We remained clear of the bravo AND the charlie airspace

Although people think of this 210 as “my” airplane, it really belongs to Zak. I’ve given him “permission” to fly it :)

Food

Service was pretty good. Olivia took our order promptly and served it in a reasonable 10 minutes or so. The salads were delicious! Zak and I had just eaten Easter Lunch so we weren’t ordering anything extravagant.

Olivia was courteous and professional
I don’t remember what these were called but it was some Italian named salad (Caprese?). Grilled chicken, tomatoes, and tasty cheese.

Pricing

Zak picked up the tab so I can say is it was reasonable! Seriously I don’t recall seeing anything on the menu that shocked me. Oh here it is, Chicken Caprese Salad, $11.99
Here is the menu

On the flight back we stopped at our new hangar at Arthur Dunn Airpark (X21):

It fits!
Big, Roomy Hangar

Back at Sheltair

For now we are keeping the plane on the ramp at Sheltair, mostly for convenience. We might even use the hangar for the B58P Bron that is currently being worked on at Orlando North (FA83)

One of the gear doors isn’t retracting. A minor problem usually but required taking off the pedestal cover
